PODCAST EPISODE 29: DORIE BLESOFF | FORMER CHIEF PEOPLE OFFICER & TALENT ADVISOR, RELATIVITY

Teacher. Learner. People leader. Social justice activist. Dorie Blesoff lies at the intersection of these four paths. As the former Chief People Officer and Talent Advisor at Relativity, Dorie oversaw the growth of this tech company from under 200 team members to just under 1200, all while helping create a purpose-minded culture that is committed to social impact. As a professor at Northwestern University, Dorie infuses her lessons through the filters of racial justice, equity and social change. She believes we are all interconnected and challenges those who are part of the dominant norm to expand their ideas and learnings to understand the impact of each of our actions on others and the world.

Here are my four big takeaways from the conversation:

  1. Change is never linear and it requires commitment to face the hard truths.

  2. The chaos and uncertainty of 2020 is a unique opportunity to question every institution and the truths they are built upon, including the workplace.

  3. Systemic change can often feel uncertain and uncomfortable and can be compared to a butterfly emerging from its decaying chrysalis.

  4. The intersection of where she lives allows her to share her wisdom, learn new lessons and ideas, and implement them in a socially responsible company.
